Cebé, a Haitian rice farmer, tries to organize his community to face the problem of importing North American rice, which is cheaper and ruined national production. Cebé dreams of returning to Kombit, a system of solidarity work, as an alternative for Haiti to regain its food sovereignty. He dreams of a productive Haiti, without military occupation or economic dependency.
